 What is Bing?

Bing is a web search engine owned and operated by Microsoft. It was launched in June 2009 as a successor to Microsoft's previous search engines, including Live Search, MSN Search, and Windows Live Search. Bing aims to provide users with relevant search results and a visually appealing search experience.

Like other search engines, Bing indexes web pages and ranks them based on relevance to search queries. It offers various features and functionalities, including image search, video search, news search, maps, and more. Bing also incorporates features like "Bing Predicts," which uses machine learning algorithms to predict outcomes of events such as sports competitions and reality TV shows.

One of the distinctive features of Bing is its daily homepage background image, which showcases stunning photographs or artwork. These images often include additional information or trivia when clicked upon, creating an interactive and visually appealing search experience.

Bing is the default search engine for Microsoft's web browsers, including Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge. It also powers search results on other platforms and services, such as Yahoo Search. While Google remains the dominant search engine globally, Bing has managed to carve out a significant market share, particularly in the United States.
